Curriculum
How Our Curriculum is Organised
As part of the Lighthouse Schools Partnership (LSP), we use the LSP curriculum as the foundation for learning at Whitchurch, adapting it carefully to meet the needs of the children in each class. Our subject leaders oversee their areas of the curriculum, supporting teachers and ensuring learning is ambitious, well-sequenced and builds progressively as children move through the school.
We use a range of high-quality programmes to support teaching, including Unlocking Letters and Sounds for phonics, White Rose for Maths and Science, and the LSP curriculum for Reading and Humanities. We also use Jigsaw and Zones of Regulation for PSHE, Language Angels for Spanish and Real PE, alongside school-planned PE lessons. Computing is taught through a structured curriculum that progressively develops children's knowledge and skills. Charanga is the chosen curriculum for Music.
Teachers use these programmes alongside their knowledge of the children they teach, adapting learning where needed so that every pupil is supported and challenged to achieve their best.
