Motto, Rules and Values

Achieving Our Best Together

Our motto captures our ambition for everyone at Whitchurch. We want every pupil to achieve their best, and we recognise that this happens when children, staff and families work together. We encourage everyone to contribute, support one another and take pride in being part of our school community.

Our School Rules Are:

Be Ready • Be Respectful • Be Safe

Our three simple rules provide clear and consistent expectations across our school. We teach children to be ready to learn and embrace new challenges, respectful of themselves, others and the world around them, and safe in their actions, choices and learning environment.

Our School Values Are:

Awareness • Courage • Determination • Excellence

Our values help children develop the qualities they need to thrive at school and beyond. We encourage pupils to show awareness of themselves and others, have the courage to try new things and do what is right, demonstrate determination when things are challenging, and strive for excellence by always seeking to be the best version of themselves.

Together, our motto, rules and values shape the culture of Whitchurch and help us ensure every pupil, every day has the opportunity to achieve their best.

Our Curriculum

At Whitchurch Primary School, our curriculum is designed to be ambitious, inclusive and inspiring, enabling every pupil to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to achieve their best.

Our curriculum is relevant and meaningful. We build upon what children already know and connect new learning to their lives, experiences and the world around them. We make purposeful use of our local community, its rich heritage and the wider national and global context to broaden children's understanding and help them recognise their place within the world.

We believe that learning should be memorable and exciting. Our curriculum is brought to life through carefully chosen experiences, visits, visitors, events and opportunities for children to explore and interact with their learning. These experiences enrich, rather than replace, high-quality teaching and help children develop curiosity, enthusiasm and a lifelong love of learning.

Our curriculum is carefully sequenced and progressive. Knowledge and skills are deliberately built over time, with each year providing strong foundations for the next. Children are supported to make connections between their learning, revisit important concepts and develop increasingly sophisticated knowledge and understanding.

We have high expectations for every pupil. Our curriculum is designed to be accessible and appropriately challenging for all, including pupils with SEND and those who may experience disadvantage. We recognise that children may need different levels of support to achieve ambitious outcomes, and we are committed to identifying and removing barriers to learning.

Ultimately, our curriculum is about more than academic success. We want children to leave Whitchurch as knowledgeable, confident, curious and compassionate young people, equipped with the foundations they need for the next stage of their education and the courage and determination to embrace the opportunities ahead.

Whitchurch Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
