Science

Science at Whitchurch is taught using the LSP curriculum. This has been planned using the NC objectives as assigned to each year group. Learning activities have then been designed to meet these objectives and are mapped to ensure progression of skills, knowledge and vocabulary.  In addition the skills, methods and processes needed to ‘work scientifically’ are also planned to progress across the school with the intention that children can experience different types of scientific enquiry, which are embedded into topic planning. Recording of outcomes are also planned to progress across year groups and ensure that the children have the opportunity to record in different ways

Whitchurch Primary are Scientists! Children benefit from regular Science enrichment opportunities.

We have had chicks and butterflies in class to learn about life cycles.  We have regular Forest School sessions to learn about growing and plants.

Children have enjoyed trips to Longleat, The Wild Place, Noah's Ark and Windmill Hill Farm and The Natural History Museum. Children benefit from interactive assemblies from Fun Science and Animal Encounters to enhance their learning opportunities.

Children can attend a weekly Science club run by Fun Science.
