RE and collective worship

RE

RE at Whitchurch aims to enable children to understand and make connections between different religions and the wider society and communities they exist in. We explore the effect religion has on people and give the children the knowledge to understand the varying aspects of specific religions, encouraging children to question and enquire.

Collective Worship

As a school we observe the government minimum requirement of 20 minutes of collective worship each day. On Mondays we enjoy a whole school assembly where children learn about topical events in the news such as PRIDE or BLM. Tuesdays and Thursdays see group assemblies where we discuss the morals in books and link them to our school values. Wednesday assemblies include guest speakers, such as 'Open The Book' or the NSPCC, whilst Friday sees a final whole school congregation celebrate children who have shown our school values throughout the week.

At times we have additional collective workshop, usually if a specialist speaker is in school or there has been a major world event of interest or note.

Whitchurch Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
