Governors

WELCOME TO OUR WEBPAGE!

The Governing Body is made up of a range of people from many different backgrounds. They include Parents, staff, Co-opted Governors and  Local Authority (L.A.) Governors.

All Governors are volunteers who give their time and skills to help in the running of the school by acting as a critical or questioning friend.

The L.A. provides training sessions to induct new Governors and to provide up to date trainings on topics relevant to Governors roles in the running of the school.

 WHAT WE DO

Governors are responsible for the strategic management of the school, striving to ensure the best possible outcomes for our children.

The Headteacher and staff are responsible for the day to day running of the school.

Governors responsibilities include –

Setting and monitoring the school budget

Setting standards for pupils behaviour and discipline

          The appointment of Senior Staff

Ensuring the upkeep and safety of school buildings and grounds

Setting and monitoring the school’s aims and policies

Ensuring that the school provides a broad, balanced and inclusive curriculum in                   accordance with the requirements of the National Curriculum

Preparing an Action Plan following Ofsted visits

Each Governor has a responsibility for a particular aspect of school life and reports back to the Full Governing Body (FGB) .This ensures that Governors are kept up to date with the relevant requirements of OFSTED.

The  Full Governing Body meets on the 3rd Thursday in the month  in term time at 5.15pm.

As well as attending meetings, Governors like to visit the school and be involved in school life. This includes reading with the children, pupil voice and making over 200 pieces of toast for the Harvest breakfast!  We also enjoy sharing in assemblies, plays and other activities.

Above all we aim to support the staff of the school in creating a safe, happy and pleasant environment in which to learn and play together.

Whitchurch Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
