Charging For Activities Policy

 "Achieving our best together"

The Governing body have agreed:-

MUSIC TUITION

To charge for small group instrumental teaching which takes place in school time.  The charge will be determined by the number of children involved and the cost of provision and will be payable termly in advance, usually for 11 lessons.  Children may be asked to purchase sheet music.  Some instruments will be available on loan initially, but it is hoped that children will eventually purchase their own, in order to extend the availability of provision.  However, no child shall be excluded from this opportunity if he/she shows the interest and has the potential ability but is unable to meet the costs.

ART AND TECHNOLOGY

To continue to charge for items, which parents have indicated in advance that they wish to purchase, which have been made during normal lessons or in after school clubs.

FOOD ACTIVITIES

To continue to ask for contributions towards items produced in cookery.

CLASS VISITS

To ask for voluntary contributions for all trips with no element of subsidy for pupils who do not pay.  The cost for the accompanying teacher(s) and assistants will be incorporated in the price.  Parents will be advised in advance of each trip that viability/cancellation will be dependent upon a sufficient number of voluntary contributions.

REMISSIONS

The Headteacher and class teachers should continue as at present sensitively and confidentially approaching parents whom they suspect cannot afford to pay and offer to pay the whole or part of the cost of any of the items 2 - 4 from school funds.

The Governors wish to review the effects of the policy annually and the Headteacher will include details in each report to the Governors.

A brief summary of this policy statement will be included in the school Prospectus but will  refer to the availability of the full statement in the school office.
